Former Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in 2024, calling him "the leader our country needs."
"America is in a crisis," Pence said in a speech at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa. "Our country needs a leader who can restore order, safety, and prosperity. Ron DeSantis is that leader."
Pence's endorsement is a major boost for DeSantis, who is seen as a potential frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2024. DeSantis has been a vocal critic of President Joe Biden and has gained popularity among conservatives for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
