The Iranian-American wrestler was a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion and one of the most popular wrestlers of the 1980s. He began his wrestling career in Iran before moving to the United States in 1971. He won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in 1983, defeating Bob Backlund. He lost the title to Hulk Hogan in 1984, but remained a popular figure in the WWF for several more years.
