A section of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia collapsed early Sunday morning, closing the major highway in both directions. The collapse was caused by a tanker truck fire that ignited under the highway, according to officials.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, but the collapse caused major traffic disruptions in the area. All lanes of I-95 were closed between the Woodhaven and Aramingo exits, and officials said it could take weeks to repair the damage.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
