Bob Myers Steps Down as Warriors President of Basketball Operations | #NBA #Warriors #BobMyers #ExecutiveOfTheYear #HallOfFame
Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers has stepped down, the team announced Tuesday.
Myers, who was named Executive of the Year in 2015 and 2017, led the Warriors to four NBA championships in his nine seasons in the role. He also helped the team rebuild after a long period of mediocrity, drafting Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
"It's been an incredible journey," Myers said in a statement. "I'm grateful to the ownership group, the coaching staff, the players, and the entire Warriors organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this team. I'm proud of what we've accomplished together, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for the Warriors."
Myers' departure comes as the Warriors are facing a number of challenges. The team is coming off a disappointing second-round playoff exit, and Curry, Thompson, and Green are all entering the final years of their contracts.
The Warriors have not yet announced who will replace Myers. However, they are expected to promote assistant general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. to the role.
Myers' departure is a significant loss for the Warriors. He was one of the most respected executives in the NBA, and he played a key role in the team's success. However, the Warriors are in good hands with Dunleavy Jr., who has been with the team for 12 years.
